Coming up next, the Best Animated Movie award for those films that came out this year, all of which made impressive feats of animation.

Winner:

Klaus

Runner Ups:

  • Toy Story 4
  • The Lego Movie 2
  • How To Train Your Dragon 3
  • The Missing Link

Why We Chose It:

Klaus gives us a new take on Santa Claus’ origin story. Set in a fictional 19th-century setting, it tells the story of a spoiled heir who is sent by his father as punishment to serve as the mailman in a northern and pretty hostile island where he must deliver 6,000 letters.

It has an amazing voice cast, starring Jason Schwartzman, J.K. Simmons, Rashida Jones and more. The shots, lightning, texturing, is just flawless. In short, this movie is a masterpiece that perfectly encapsulates the Christmas Spirit.

Klaus is a breath of fresh air into 2D animation. A project that took years in the making and you can actually watch and feel the passion of the people who worked on the film. Even if Christmas is behind us, this movie is a must-see.
