Ten years after the first Zombieland saw the light of day we finally get a sequel. A little weird it took so long since the first one really capitalized on the zombie trend we had in the early 2010’s and well, zombies aren’t the hottest thing anymore, but hey the first one made a lot of money and you know how Hollywood producers roll.
The movie takes place ten years after the first one, so the characters have pretty much adapted to the post-apocalyptic world and actually enjoy themselves. One day Little Rock decides to run away with a hippie so the gang decides to go out and find her.
The characters then go on a bunch of quests so it is basically “we get here, we get in trouble, move to the next point and also get in trouble” so if you enjoyed the first Zombieland, you are probably gonna enjoy this one two so lets get into it.
First of all the actors. When the first Zombieland came out, none of them were actually super hot shots, but now they are all Academy Award nominees and one winner (Emma Stone for her amazing performance in La La Land). So yeah, pretty big names for a comedy, but they still got it.
Tallahassee is still the funniest of them all, he really brings it into the table and makes the movie way more entertaining and fun when he is on screen.
Some of the newer characters are actually great additions to the film, but others fall kinda flat as so much more could have been explored.
Overall, even if it doesn’t bring anything new to the table and has a very simple premise, Zombieland Double Tap is a very enjoyable experience with fun and compelling characters and your good ol’ fashion (and some actually quite creative) zombie killings.
